What is the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship?
While it may not be as important or prestigious as the BMW PGA Championship or the Scottish Open, the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship is among the highlights of the DP World Tour each year. Established in 2001 when it replaced the Alfred Dunhill Cup team competition, it caters for keen golf enthusiasts and casual sports fans alike thanks to its unique format.
The event features an individual professional tournament and a Pro-Am Team Championship running in parallel, with the latter featuring some star names from the worlds of sport and entertainment.
Which celebrities are set to appear?
Among the participants in last year’s event were Hollywood stars Bill Murray and Kathryn Newton, Olympian Sir Steve Redgrave, football icon Gianfranco Zola, and singers Huey Lewis and Ronan Keating.
Newton – who recently joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania – will return for the 2023 edition, while making his debut will be English cricket legend Stuart Broad.
More celebrities are set to be confirmed in the coming weeks, so keep an eye out for more announcements! Other past participants have included Samuel L. Jackson and Justin Timberlake.
When is the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship?
This year’s competition will take place from 5-8 October. As usual, it will be held across 3 iconic Scottish courses: the Old Course at St. Andrews, Carnoustie, and Kingsbarns. Over the first 3 days of the competition, admission is free for all spectators at all 3 courses.
For the final day on Sunday, play will exclusively take place at St. Andrews, and spectators will require a ticket to enter. Tickets cost GBP £20 for adults aged 19 and over; they are discounted to £15 for seniors aged 65 and over, and they are free – but must still be ordered online – for students, military personnel, and children aged 18 and under.
