As the first Grand Slam of the season, expectations are always high going into the "Happy Slam", but the 2024 tournament promises to be one of the most exciting yet. In the men’s draw, 2023 winner Djokovic now has 24 Grand Slam singles titles and will be pursuing a twenty-fifth, Carlos Alcaraz will be seeking to claim his first title in Melbourne, having never previously made it past the third round of the event, and Rafael Nadal is expected to return to the ATP tour after a lengthy injury lay-off. In the women’s draw, meanwhile, defending champion Aryna Sabalenka will be looking to power her way to victory once again, with highly ranked stars such as Iga Świątek, Coco Gauff, and Elena Rybakina – all of whom have won Grand Slams of their own – in hot pursuit.
With so much to see and do at Melbourne Park and within the city of Melbourne more generally, the Australian Open routinely attracts everyone from tennis fanatics to curious tourists, and as a result attracts the largest crowds of all 4 Grand Slams.
Single session tickets are available to purchase on the tournament’s 2 main show courts, Rod Laver Arena and Margaret Court Arena. Adult tickets on both courts start from AUD $69 (USD $45), in their upper tiers. Reserved seating tickets for John Cain Arena, the event’s third show court, are available from AUD $49 (USD $32), with entry valid for an entire tournament date. Ground Passes are also valid all day, allowing holders to explore the outer courts and tournament grounds at their leisure; prices start from just AUD $19 (USD $13) during the main draw, and only AUD $10 (USD $7) during the qualifying days.
