There's just over a month to go in the PGA Tour season, and the campaign is building toward a spectacular finish with the FedEx Cup – the Tour’s end-of-season playoff – just around the corner. The penultimate event in the competition is the BMW Championship, where the top 50 players on the points list will be competing for the 30 places in the Tour Championship.
With only the top performing players in action, fans are treated to incredible drama and some of the highest standard of play outside of the majors, which makes the BMW Championship a must-see event. The tournament started life as the historic Western Open in 1899, before becoming the competition it is today in 2007. The likes of Tiger Woods, Dustin Johnson, Rory McIlroy, and Jon Rahm are among many big names to win it.
The 2-time defending champion in 2023 will be Patrick Cantlay, who triumphed by a single stroke ahead of Scott Stallings in last year’s competition. In 2021, he eventually emerged on top after an epic battle with Bryson DeChambeau, which saw the pair go head-to-head in a remarkable 6-hole playoff having tied on an incredible 27-under.
This year, the tournament returns to Olympia Fields Country Club, in Chicago, Illinois. It was last held here in 2020 behind closed doors, so this edition will be a great opportunity for fans who weren’t able to attend then.
Grounds tickets start at USD $35 for the practice rounds and $80 for the tournament rounds. A range of premium and hospitality tickets are also available; the most affordable of those – the Trophy Club – starts at $55 for the practice rounds and $145 for the competition rounds.
