Over 15,000 fans were lucky enough to visit Murrayfield in June when the British & Irish Lions played Japan in a unique warm-up fixture, but without “Flower of Scotland” ringing around the stands, the Edinburgh venue just isn’t the same.
Come the autumn, that will change, as Murrayfield is set to welcome Scottish fans in once more. Scottish fans have been made to wait to see their team walk out in any stadium – 2 tests and a Scotland A fixture were all called off this Summer – so news that tickets are now on sale for their 4 Autumn Internationals will be especially exciting.
Scotland’s list of opponents reads like a highly competitive World Cup pool, with a mix of emerging and established teams – all of them sure to impress. On 30 October, Tonga will be the first team to challenge the Scots, in a fixture which was only confirmed in the last couple of weeks. Australia and South Africa then visit Murrayfield on 7 and 13 November respectively, in what will be an unforgettable week for Scottish fans, as well as any away supporters. The final visitors to Edinburgh in the autumn will be Japan, who upset the odds so dramatically at the 2019 Rugby World Cup; Scotland will look to avenge that defeat on 20 November.
The Tonga fixture will be the perfect warm-up for the Scottish squad: some players will need easing into the test window off the back of the Lions tour, and some will not have played at the highest level in months, on account of the cancelled Summer Series fixtures. The Tongans will not be a walkover though! Bronze adult tickets start at £15, and just £1 for children. You can also double-up, by purchasing a 2 Match Package in conjunction with either the Australian or South African fixture. Prices for the 2 Match Packages start at £39 for adults.
The 2 middle fixtures are sure to be the most challenging of Scotland’s tests. Whilst Australia was humbled in its last fixture away to Scotland 4 years ago, this edition of the fixture will be a tight game that could go either way.
South Africa’s status as reigning World Cup champions and bona fide Lion-tamers, meanwhile, doesn't necessarily mean it’ll be plain-sailing for the Springboks; a dysfunctional 2020 season and a gruelling test series against the Lions this year may mean that the South Africans will travel to Scotland slightly out of puff. Regardless, Gregor Townsend’s Scots will have their work cut out for them against 2 forces of world rugby, and fans will undoubtedly be in for 2 thrilling games as a result.
Prices are the same for both fixtures: £29 for adults in Bronze seating, £44 in Silver, £64 in Gold, and £74 in Platinum. Child prices start at £22. Hospitality packages are also on sale for these matches; fans can choose either the Thistle Suite (£425 pp), Murrayfield Box (£525 pp), or Centenary Club (£695 pp), with each option offering something slightly different for fans.
Prices for the final game, versus Japan, start at £25 for adults in Bronze seating, and only £1 for children! This has all the makings of a thrill-a-minute game, given the way the Japanese team plays, and the fact that Scotland will be keen to end their series on a high – such low prices are a real steal. The 2 Match Packages are also on offer here, and fans can again choose between the Australia and South Africa matches as well as the Japanese fixture. All 3 hospitality options are also on sale for this game, such is the interest in such an exciting team visiting Murrayfield – make sure you don’t miss out on this unforgettable autumn in Edinburgh!
