From 10-13 July, the Genesis Scottish Open will give some of the PGA Tour and DP World Tour’s top stars the perfect opportunity to warm up for The Open Championship, held the following week at Royal Portrush in Northern Ireland. Hosted at the scenic Renaissance Club in North Berwick – approximately 37 km down the coast from Edinburgh – the competition provides a testing links golf experience for players, perfect for honing their skills ahead of the prestigious major.
Founded in 1972, the Scottish Open was cancelled after just 2 editions as television coverage of it could not be found, but it has been an ever-present and important fixture on the DP World Tour since its revival in 1986. Past winners range from Ian Woosnam, Colin Montgomerie, and Ernie Els to Phil Mickelson, Xander Schauffele, and Rory McIlroy.
The defending champion is Robert MacIntyre, who also finished as runner-up to McIlroy in 2023 by a single stroke. The 28-year-old delighted the home crowd with his 1-shot victory over Australia’s Adam Scott in 2024, becoming the first Scottish player to win the tournament since Monty’s win all the way back in 1999.
Adult general admission tickets start at GBP £25, while Ticket+ – which includes access to a reserved bar and seating area and a food and drinks voucher – starts at £105. All-inclusive hospitality overlooking the 18th green starts at £510 per person.
