The Tradition is the first of senior golf’s 5 majors on the 2022 calendar, returning to Greystone Golf and Country Club from 11 – 15 May. Founded in 1989, it is the youngest of the majors – which also include the Senior PGA Championship, US Senior Open, Senior Players Championship, and The Senior Open Championship – but it is a key fixture on the PGA Tour Champions schedule.
The PGA Tour Champions is golf’s pre-eminent senior tour, comprised of players aged 50 and over. However, while the competitors are in advancing years, the quality and entertainment on display remains top notch. The fields are comprised of a who’s who of major winners and modern golf legends, including the likes of Colin Montgomerie, Bernhard Langer, Miguel Angel Jimenez, and Jim Furyk, while Phil Mickelson also joined their ranks in 2020.
Alex Čejka is the defending champion at the Regions Tradition after he triumphed in the 2021 event. The Czech-born German went head-to-head with Ryder Cup captain and 2019 Tradition champion Steve Stricker in a playoff after the pair tied on 18-under for the tournament, and he beat the American courtesy of a birdie on the first hole.
Daily general admission Grounds tickets – which are “good any day” – are available for just USD $27 each, and children aged 18 and under get in for free alongside a ticketed adult. All visitors will have access to the Coca-Cola Spectator Village where you'll find delicious food and a range of beverages from signature cocktails to cold beer.
If you’re a keen golf enthusiast you can also take advantage of the Greystone Golf Experience Holiday Package. For just $108.90, you’ll not only receive 2 Grounds tickets but also a round of golf at Greystone so you can experience the same course as the pros.
