As a Badminton World Federation (BWF) Super 750-tier event, the Denmark Open is one of the most prestigious and competitive events on the professional badminton tour, with only the circuit’s 4 Super 1000 events typically providing players with more ranking points and prize money each season. As an event with such a lofty reputation, it is therefore no surprise that the 2023 edition of the Denmark Open will play host to an impressive pool of players, comprised of former Denmark Open winners, and other highly ranked hot shots.
Taking place between 17-22 October at the Jyske Bank Arena in Odense, the 2023 Denmark Open draw will include former champions across all 5 of its seeded categories – men's singles, men’s doubles, women’s singles, women’s doubles, and mixed doubles. In the men’s singles, Odense native Viktor Axelsen will lead the field, with Singapore’s Anthony Sinisuka Ginting expected to be seeded second. Last year’s men’s singles winner Shi Yu Qi will be seeded sixth, whilst one of this season’s stand-out players, Li Shi Feng, will be seeded eighth.
In the women’s singles, 2022 champion He Bing Jiao will be seeded fifth, behind players such as China’s Chen Yu Fei and South Korean An Se Young. The men’s doubles draw is expected to include 2021 winners Takuro Hoki and Yugo Kobayashi, whilst in the women’s doubles draw, 2022 champions Chen Qing Chen and Jia Yi Fan will be seeded first, ahead of pairs including Yuki Fukushima and Sayaka Hirota, who won together in 2018 and 2020. The mixed doubles, meanwhile, will see the winning pair from 2018 and 2022, Zheng Si Wei and Huang Ya Qiong, return to the event, alongside teams such as Yuta Watanabe and Arisa Higashino, the 2021 champions.
Adult day ticket prices for the 2023 event start from DKK Kr. 245 (USD $35) in Category A seating, with child tickets available from DKK Kr. 185 (USD $27).
