Last season, the Rangers felt the despair of being knocked at the final hurdle in the Stanley Cup playoffs in the National Hockey League (NHL) when Tampa Bay Lightning put a halt to their campaign in the Conference Finals. The team is no stranger to Stanley Cup droughts having gone through a 54-year one between their 1940 and 1994 wins, but they will hope last year’s form means their current drought will be much shorter. The Rangers made some acquisitions in 2022 but perhaps their biggest news is that they have named Jacob Trouba as their first captain since 2017-18.
