We are just 2 races into the new MotoGP season, but the riders have already crossed the world, competing in Portugal and Argentina and now making their way to Texas. The Grand Prix of the Americas is scheduled to take place this weekend, from 14-16 April 2023.
Held at Circuit of the Americas, whose sweeping track also hosts an annual Formula 1 event, this MotoGP race will be a fierce contest for points early in the season. The first 2 races were both won by Italian riders, with Francesco Bagnaia opening his championship defence in the strongest way possible by claiming first place in Portugal. The 2022 champion did not fare so well in Argentina, however, only managing a sixteenth-place finish. Bagnaia came fifth in Austin last year, but following that recent disappointment in Termas de Río Hondo, he will be hoping for a better result in 2023.
Bagnaia’s compatriot Marco Bezzecchi came third in the Portuguese motorcycle Grand Prix, and then improved on his performance to win in Argentina. Bezzecchi currently sits comfortably at the top of the riders’ standings, with 50 points to Bagnaia’s 41, and last year’s Rookie of the Season is already being discussed as a future title contender. At his debut Grand Prix of the Americas race in 2022, Bezzecchi was forced to retire after an accident. With consecutive top-3 finishes under his belt this year, the exciting young rider will be looking for a much more triumphant finish when he returns to Texas.
Fans hoping to watch the drama unfold at Circuit of the Americas can still get their hands on some great tickets.
For grandstand viewing, Turn 12 offers the most affordable experience, with daily tickets from USD $12 and weekend passes starting at just $89. For the spectators who want to catch all the pre-race preparation and post-race celebration, seats in the Main Grandstand start at $174 for the whole weekend, or $156 for Sunday only.
They say everything is bigger in Texas, so expect huge entertainment when MotoGP roars into Austin this weekend.
