The FIVB Volleyball Men's World Championships is an international volleyball competition contested by senior men's national teams and organised by the Fédération Internationale de Volleyball (FIVB), the sport's global governing body. Russia – the most successful national team in the competition’s history – is already proving to be an enthusiastic and passionate host.
A total of 24 teams, including the host nation who automatically qualify, compete in the tournament’s pool phase in cities such as Saint-Petersburg and Novosibirsk before playing in subsequent rounds vying to progress to the final at the VTB Arena in Moscow on 11 September 2022.
Fans can purchase very reasonably priced tickets in different formats: individual tickets for selected matches; Day Pass tickets for 1 game day (i.e. for both matches held at the same sports facility on a specific day); City Pass tickets for all matches in a specific city (i.e. for all matches played at one sports facility in one host city within a given phase of the championship); or Follow the Team tickets for the fans of a specific team (i.e. for all matches of this team in the first phase of the championship). The lowest-priced tickets are 400 rubles or around £4.
If that’s not enough volleyball action for you, the FIVB Women’s Volleyball World Championships are set to take place from 23 September-15 October 2022 in various venues in the Netherlands and Poland. More information and tickets will be released soon!
In the world of beach volleyball, we have just seen the thrilling conclusion of the World Tour Finals which took place in Cagliari, Italy from 6-10 October. Norway's Olympic champions Anders Mol and Christian Sørum dominated the men’s final to claim yet another victory in 2021, while Germany's Karla Borger and Julia Sude bested Canada's world champions, Sarah Pavan and Melissa Humana-Paredes in the women’s competition.
For 2022, the FIVB has also announced the launch of a new competition, the Beach Pro Tour. The competition will be held at 3 levels (Elite16, Challenge, and Futures) and – like the World Tour it is replacing – different competitions will take place across the year in various locations and it will culminate with the Pro Tour Finals.
