The FIVB Volleyball Women's World Championship is an international volleyball competition contested by senior women's national teams and organised by the Fédération Internationale de Volleyball (FIVB), the sport's global governing body.
Inaugurated in 1952, the gap between championships was initially variable, but since 1970 the events have been held every 4 years. From 2025, the championships will be biennial. The current format of the competition involves a qualification phase - which takes place over the preceding 3 years - to determine which teams qualify for the tournament phase, which is often called the World Championship Finals. After a format change, a total of 32 teams, including the host nation(s) who automatically qualify, compete in the tournament phase for the title at venues within the host nation(s) over a period of about a month.
The host and dates for the next event are yet to be decided.
