The FIVB Volleyball Men's World Championship is an international volleyball competition contested by senior men's national teams and organised by the Fédération Internationale de Volleyball (FIVB), the sport's global governing body.
Inaugurated in 1949, the interval between championships has changed over the years, but since 1962 the event has been held every 4 years. From 2025, the championships will be biennial. The current format of the competition involves a qualification phase - which takes place over the preceding 3 years - to determine which teams qualify for the tournament phase, which is often called the World Championship Finals. After a format change, a total of 32 teams, including the host nation who qualify automatically, compete in the tournament phase for the title at venues within the host nation.
There have been 20 World Championship tournaments won by 7 different teams. Italy won the previous event in 2022.
