As the world-famous venue for the annual Australian Open Grand Slam, Melbourne Park is an international gateway to the city and the wider state of Victoria. At the beginning of every year, the Park swings open its gates to thousands of eager fans, providing an unforgettable fortnight of top-class tennis. In 2022 this will be no different – the Australian Open is set to take place between 17-30 January – but this year also sees an exciting precursor to the Grand Slam, the Melbourne Summer Set, take place in the same venue between 3-9 January.
The Melbourne Summer Set is a one-off warm-up event, intended to prepare players for the prestigious “Happy Slam” a week later, but it is also the perfect opportunity for fans to see world-leading players hone their game and improve their fitness, in a more intimate tournament setting than would normally be available. The Summer Set is a joint ATP 250 and WTA 250 event, meaning both men and women will be competing, and the draws are filled with big names: living legend Rafael Nadal and mercurial Australian star Nick Kyrgios will be looking to progress in the ATP draw, whilst among the WTA players looking to make the most of their time at Melbourne Park are 4-time Grand Slam winner Naomi Osaka, and Romanian ace Simona Halep.
Tickets for the Melbourne Summer Set are already on sale: you can choose from a Ground Pass or a reserved seat inside the iconic Rod Laver Arena. Adult prices start at AUD $5 (GBP £2.69) for a Ground Pass, and AUD $19 (GBP £10.22) for a Rod Laver Arena ticket. As well as offering those competitively-priced adult tickets, the Melbourne Summer Set provides free entry for children, making it the perfect tournament for the whole family!
The Australian Open, meanwhile, has also opened ticket sales. Reserved seats are available in the Upper and Lower Tiers of both Rod Laver Arena and Margaret Court Arena, and Ground Passes are also on sale – they’re perfect for fans who want to soak-up an entire day’s play, across a range of courts! Adult prices on Rod Laver Arena start from AUD $59 (GBP £31.73) in the Upper Tier, and AUD $160 (GBP £86.05) in the Lower Tier; on Margaret Court Arena the starting price for adults in the Upper Tier is also AUD $59 (GBP £31.73), whilst in the Lower Tier it’s AUD $85 (GBP £45.71). Ground Pass prices start from AUD $29 (GBP £15.60) for adults.
Child discounts are available on arena tickets, as well as Ground Passes, and there are also further educational, occupational, and health-related discounts available in arena seating. As well as providing such a wide range of ticketing discounts, the Australian Open also offers a gamut of hospitality options, catering for all types of tennis fan!
