The New Zealander carded 7-under par to finish 2 strokes ahead of an imposing 4-woman chasing pack comprised of Nelly Korda, Jiyai Shin, Lilia Vu, and Ruoning Yin. Between them, the chasers held 7 major titles, with Shin and Vu sharing 3 Women’s Open victories in their glittering careers.
After a long 8-year wait, Ko now holds 3 major titles herself, having previously won the Evian Championship in 2015 and the Chevron Championship (then the ANA Inspiration) the following year. This victory – at the “Home of Golf” no less – completes a sensational summer for the 27-year-old, who claimed a gold medal at the Summer Olympics in Paris and subsequently became the youngest inductee into the LPGA Hall of Fame.
The Kiwi will hope to become the first player since Taiwan’s Yani Tseng in 2010 and 2011 to win back-to-back Women’s Open titles when the competition heads to Royal Porthcawl Golf Club in Bridgend, Wales, from 30 July – 3 August 2025. Royal Porthcawl has never hosted the women’s tournament, but it has held the men’s Senior Open Championship on 3 occasions, most recently in 2023.
Tickets are already on sale for the competition, with general admission Grounds tickets starting at just GBP £15 for adults. Hospitality is available in the form of the all-inclusive Champions Club, which starts at £570. For more information on the 2025 Women’s Open, click here.
