The Opening Ceremony will take place at Promenade Park in downtown Toledo, Ohio on Friday, 3 September ahead of the Solheim Cup’s competition rounds kicking off the following day. It will feature live performances from Stefani as well as local bands and the Toledo School for the Arts, along with other activities and a firework display.
Stefani has sold in excess of 33 million records worldwide as part of No Doubt, and she picked up two Grammy Awards with the rock band before embarking on a successful solo career spanning almost 2 decades. As a solo artist, the 51-year-old has won a third Grammy Award and numerous other gongs including a Brit Award, an American Music Award, a World Music Award, 2 Billboard Music Awards, and 4 MTV Video Music Awards. The multi-platinum singer-songwriter, whose hits include “Don’t Speak,” “Hollaback Girl,” and “Rich Girl,” has also regularly appeared on The Voice as a judge and coach since 2014.

On Saturday, 4 September, the celebration will continue with a performance from country music star Chris Young. Young, also a multi-platinum artist, got his big break in 2006 when he won season 4 of the USA Network Nashville Star singing competition, and he has since racked up 11 No. 1 singles.
This year’s Solheim Cup will be contested at the Inverness Club in Toledo, Ohio as Team USA and Team Europe face off in the most prestigious team event women’s golf has to offer, in front of an expected audience of 150,000 spectators. The United States are the most successful team in the Solheim Cup, which is held every 2 years, and lead Europe 10-6 in the series. However, it was Europe who triumphed with 14.5 points to the USA’s 13.5 points in a tight contest at Gleneagles in Scotland in the 2019 edition of the tournament, so Team USA will give their all to take back the crown.

Tickets for the event – which begins with practice rounds on Tuesday, 31 August 2021 – and both concerts are on sale. For the schedule and ticket prices, check out our Solheim Cup page.
