A staple on the PGA Tour since 1938, the Wyndham Championship has been entertaining golf fans in the Greensboro area throughout its entire storied history. Indeed, this historic tournament even started life as the Greater Greensboro Open, and since 2008 it has resided at Sedgefield Country Club.
As one of the oldest competitions on the PGA Tour, it has the honour of counting no fewer than 18 World Golf Hall of Famers among its former winners, from Sam Snead to Seve Ballesteros to Davis Love III. Snead’s history with the tournament was particularly impressive. The 7-time major-winner won this event 8 times – a PGA Tour record for most victories at a single tournament – including the inaugural edition. His final win in 1965 set another PGA Tour record that still stands today, too, as at age 52 he remains the oldest player to win a tournament on the Tour.
In honour of the golfing legend, winners of the Wyndham Championship are awarded the Sam Snead Cup. The player to most recently lift the trophy was England’s Aaron Rai, who finished 2 strokes clear of Max Greyserman in 2024 to claim the first PGA Tour victory of his career.
For fans hoping to see whether Rai can defend his title, general admission Grounds tickets start at USD $40 for adults, while children aged 15 and under are entitled to enter for free, no tickets or pre-booking required. Spectators seeking a hospitality experience may wish to try the Cabanas ticket, which grants access to 5 different venues around the course. Cabanas tickets start at $250 for single-day access.
