The Wyndham Championship is a professional men's golf tournament, part of the PGA Tour, and typically played in August each year. Founded in 1938 as the Greater Greensboro Open, it has been played in Greensboro, North Carolina, for its entire history and is one of the PGA Tour's oldest competitions, with 18 former winners in the World Golf Hall of Fame. Since 2008, the Wyndham Championship has been held at the Sedgefield Country Club.
Golf legend Sam Snead made history at this event with his win in 1965. It was his record 8th win of the tournament – 27 years after his first Wyndham Championship victory – and in doing so at age 52 he remains the oldest player to win on the PGA Tour. In his honour, the winner of the Wyndham Championship receives the Sam Snead Cup.
