The Las Vegas Strip has grown so large over the years that, today, much of it stretches into the neighbouring town of Paradise. It’s a fitting name for an area of the world so stacked with hotels, bars, casinos, restaurants, and stage shows that it might be confused for some form of neon-encrusted heaven on earth. From the Pinball Hall of Fame to an atomic testing museum, Vegas has something for everyone – even wrestling fans. More specifically, between 25–29 May 2022, Sin City is set to become a nirvana of near-falls and a promised land of powerbombs for followers of AEW when, for the first time since 2019, the company brings its Double or Nothing pay-per-view (PPV) back home to Nevada.
Considered one of AEW’s “Big 4” marquee events, Double or Nothing began life 3 years ago in Las Vegas's MGM Grand Garden Arena. In the years that followed, an appearance by Mike Tyson, 2 genre-defying Stadium Stampede matches, and multiple major title changes have helped to secure Double or Nothing’s status as an unmissable annual event, as well as a key factor in AEW’s evolution from fledgling promotion to major pro-wrestling force.
Double or Nothing will take place on Sunday 29 May this year at the T-Mobile Arena, where headline matches will include Thunder Rosa v Serena Deeb for the AEW Women’s World Championship, Hangman Adam Page v CM Punk for the AEW World Championship, and the Finals of both the Men’s and Women’s Owen Hart Cup. As if to underscore the PPV’s distinguished position in AEW folklore, less than 24 hours after tickets had been released for Double or Nothing’s 2022 return to Vegas, it became the first-ever AEW event to achieve $1 million in ticket sales. However, despite the rush for seats, wrestling fans longing to take in the action live can still find tickets on Koobit from $58.70.
Of course, like all AEW PPVs, the action does not just begin and end with the main event on Sunday. Adam Cole, Chris Jericho, Britt Baker, MJF and the rest of the company’s famous roster will be in town from Wednesday 25 May, when AEW is set to film its weekly Dynamite show at the Michelob Ultra Arena. This will be followed by the filming of AEW Rampage, at the same venue, on Friday 27 May. Both events, which will offer fans one last chance to see their favourite wrestlers before they go “all in” at Double or Nothing, have tickets available for around $22.
To round off its Double or Nothing Week-Long Spectacular, on Saturday 28 May, AEW is set to host its famous Fan Fest at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center. With tickets available for $69, the event will feature stage shows, a Being the Elite (BTE) Championship Title Defense, a live recording of the AEW Unrestricted Podcast, and the chance to meet some of your favourite AEW stars.
While a trip to Las Vegas needs no excuse, a visit during a week when, courtesy of AEW, the City of Lights will become the City of Title Fights is likely to be one you won’t forget in a hurry. For more information, or to buy tickets for AEW Double or Nothing, click here.
