Although the PGA Tour as a formal entity was only formed in 1968 – and did not become known as the PGA Tour until 7 years after that – its history stretches back more than a century to 1916 and the founding of the Professional Golf Association of America (PGA). Since then, it has routinely showcased many of the biggest and best events that golf has to offer each year. Here, we take a closer look at the 2025 PGA Tour calendar.

Number of Events in the 2025 PGA Tour Season
In total, there will be 46 official events over the course of the 2025 PGA Tour season. Of those, 38 take place in the United States and its territories. The others are split between the United Kingdom (2), Mexico (2), Canada, Japan, Dominican Republic, and Bermuda.
Several other events – the Ryder Cup, Hero World Challenge, Grant Thornton Invitational, and PNC Championship – are sanctioned or co-sanctioned by the PGA Tour, but they do not count as official events in terms of wins, prize money, or FedEx Cup points.
With events coming and going from the calendar there is no set number of tournaments held each season. The PGA Tour reverted back to a calendar-year schedule in 2024; the previous 10 seasons had spanned 2 calendar years, and so the 2022-23 season was particularly long as it featured many of the autumn events twice:
- 2024 – 47 events
- 2022-23 – 54 events (season lengthened amid transition back to calendar-year schedule)
- 2021-22 – 48 events
- 2020-21 – 50 events
- 2019-20 – 36 events (season affected by COVID-19)

2025 PGA Tour Regular Season
The 2025 PGA Tour regular season runs from 2 January 2025 to 3 August 2025. Over the course of the regular season PGA Tour pros compete for FedEx Cup points in addition to prize money, with 500 on offer to the winner of most events.
The majors offer 750 points to the winners, while the Players Championship and a selection of "signature" PGA Tour events (The Sentry Tournament of Champions, AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, Genesis Invitational, Arnold Palmer Invitational, RBC Heritage, Truist Championship, Memorial Tournament, and Travelers Championship) reward their winners with 700, as well as additional prize money. At the end of the regular season, the top 70 FedEx Cup points winners qualify for the FedEx Cup Playoffs.
2025 PGA Tour FedEx Cup Playoffs
The 2025 PGA Tour FedExCup Playoffs run from 7-24 August 2025. Over the course of these 3 events (the FedEx St. Jude Championship, BMW Championship, and Tour Championship), the top 70 FedEx Cup points winners are whittled down to the top 30. At the end of the Tour Championship, the player with the most points is crowned the season champion and claims the FedEx Cup. View the full FedEx Cup Playoff schedule here.
2025 PGA Tour FedEx Cup Fall
The 2025 PGA Tour FedEx Cup Fall runs from 11 September 2025 to 23 November 2025. During the period from 2013-2023 in which the season spanned 2 calendar years, the events that took place in the autumn served as the season-openers, but with the reversion to a single calendar-year structure, they once again take place after the season finale of the Tour Championship.
This period is now known as the FedEx Cup Fall and gives players ranked outside the top 50 a chance to guarantee their top 125 eligibility for the following season; those ranked in the top 50 can also continue to compete in these events as they pursue silverware, prize money, and Official World Golf Ranking points.
You can find the complete FedEx Cup Fall schedule on Koobit.

2025 PGA Tour Players
Players who finish in the top 125 of the previous season’s FedEx Cup points standings are guaranteed eligibility (also known as having a “full card”) for full-field events and The Players Championship the following year. Other players, including those who finish outside the top 125, top Korn Ferry Tour (the PGA Tour’s main developmental tour) players, and top DP World Tour players, will also feature in some events.
The United States’ Scottie Scheffler topped the standings in 2024 after an exceptional season in which he won 7 PGA Tour titles, including The Players Championship, The Masters, and the Tour Championship. Here’s the full top 10 from 2024:
1. Scottie Scheffler
2. Collin Morikawa
3. Sahith Theegala
T4. Russell Henley
T4. Xander Schauffele
T4. Adam Scott
7. Sung-Jae Im
8. Wyndham Clark
T9. Shane Lowry
T9. Hideki Matsuyama
T9. Rory McIlroy
Return to Calendar-Year Schedule
For most of its history, the PGA Tour has operated on a calendar-year schedule. In 2013, it transitioned to a wraparound schedule with each season spanning 2 calendar years, much like seasons run in the English Premier League or the NBA.
However, amid competition from the newly-formed LIV Golf and other factors, the PGA Tour opted to return to its traditional calendar-year schedule in 2024, with the events that previously comprised the opening portion of the campaign now becoming the FedEx Cup Fall.
2026 PGA Tour Schedule
The PGA Tour typically releases its schedule for the following season in August, when the current regular season is drawing to a close, so it’s likely that we’ll get a look at the 2026 calendar around the same time this summer.
