The Zimbabwe national cricket team, nicknamed the Chevrons, is the men's team that represents Zimbabwe in international cricket. Though the country (known as Rhodesia until 1980) has been playing cricket since around 1904, Zimbabwe first became an associate member of the ICC in 1981. As a result, the team played in its first Cricket World Cup in 1983 – a tournament at which The Chevrons earned a famous victory over Australia.
In 1992, Zimbabwe became a full member of the ICC, meaning the side now takes part in all 3 major international formats: Tests, ODIs, and T20s. Led by legendary wicket-keeper batsman Andy Flower, the team enjoyed some of its best years between 1997 and 2002, before declining slightly in the 2000s. After failing to qualify for the Cricket World Cup in 2019, Zimbabwe bounced back by earning a place in the T20 World Cup in Australia in 2022.
