Wycombe Wanderers, also known as the Chairboys or the Blues, are a professional football club based in High Wycombe, England. Their home ground is Adams Park.
📜 Wycombe Wanderers History
Wycombe were founded in 1887. It is believed they took their name from Wanderers FC – the team who lifted the first-ever FA Cup in 1872 – who played their final game that same year. Wanderers had defeated another local side, High Wycombe, 9-0 on their way to winning their 5th FA Cup in 1877.
The Chairboys remained an amateur side until 1974, when they became semi-professional after the FA abolished the official "amateur" status.
In 1993 they reached the Football League for the first time in their history, guided by manager Martin O'Neill, and they achieved promotion to the third tier in their first season. In 2020, they went one better, reaching the Championship.
