Wunderhorse is an English rock band formed in 2020 by frontman and songwriter Jacob Slater. Originating from Newquay, Cornwall, the band has built a reputation for their compelling rock sound. Slater, previously known for his role in the punk trio Dead Pretties, initiated Wunderhorse as a solo project during the COVID-19 pandemic. The venture evolved into a full band by 2021, with Jamie Staples on drums, Harry Tristan Fowler on guitar, and Peter Woodin on bass.
Wunderhorse's debut album, "Cub," was released in 2022 to critical acclaim. The album's insightful exploration of youthful experiences garnered it recognition from NME, Riot, and Far Out, with critics praising its engaging blend of blues, garage, and indie influences. Following their debut, Wunderhorse supported major acts such as Fontaines D.C., Pixies, and Sam Fender on tour and performed at the Glastonbury Festival in 2023. Their sophomore album, "Midas," released in 2024, further solidified their position in the rock genre, earning critical praise and achieving a high placement on the UK Albums Chart.
