The World Snooker Championship is the most sought-after prize in all of snooker. First held in 1927, the tournament has become the sport's longest-running event, as well as its most lucrative. Alongside the Masters, and the UK Championship, the competition forms snooker's esteemed Triple Crown Series.
The World Snooker Championship's long and storied history means that tradition dictates proceedings at the event, even in the modern day. For instance, the format of the tournament has remained largely unchanged since 1982, and the distinctive World Championship trophy, topped with a Greek shepherdess figurine, has been in use since 1926.
The world's best will return to the hallowed Crucible Theatre between 18 April - 4 May 2026.
World Snooker Championship Tickets
The Crucible Theatre is a small, 3-sided arena, meaning nobody in the entire venue is ever more than 20 metres from the action. While official tickets for the World Snooker Championship sold out immediately, reseller tickets will be available soon.
For the first 12 days, matches are played across 2 tables. Table 1 is home to the top half of the draw (led by Seed #1) and Table 2 will house the bottom half of the draw (led by Seed #2). As the competition approaches its conclusion, play switches to one table only.
