The World Athletics U20 Championships is a biennial world championships for the sport of athletics organised by the World Athletics, contested by athletes in the under-20 athletics age category (19 years old or younger on 31 December in the year of the competition).
In 1986, the competition was launched as the IAAF World Junior Championships in Athletics but was renamed to IAAF World U20 Championships in November 2015. The current name was adapted with the name change of the sports governing body in 2019.
The World Athletics U20 Championships 2024 took place in Lima, Peru. The 2026 event heads to the renowned Hayward Field to - once again - bring together the best U20 athletes.
