Wheelchair curling is an adaptation of curling for athletes with a disability affecting their lower limbs or gait.
Wheelchair curling began as a Paralympic sport at the Winter Paralympics in Turin, Italy, in 2006, and its format is comparable to that of curling at the Winter Olympics. Even though the rocks are thrown from a stationary wheelchair and there is no sweeping, the game is played on the same ice and with the same rocks. Rocks can be pushed by a delivery stick or thrown by hand while leaning over the wheelchair's side. It is a game of skill and strategy known as "chess on ice".
For the 2026 Winter Paralympics, the wheelchair curling events will be held at the Stadio Olimpico del Ghiaccio in Cortina d'Ampezzo.
