The Vancouver Whitecaps are a professional men's football team who play in Major League Soccer's Western Conference as one of the league's 3 Canadian representatives.
History
They were founded in 2009, replacing the USSF Division 2 team of the same name, and joined MLS in the 2011 season.
The following year, the Whitecaps became the first Canadian team to reach the MLS Cup Playoffs.
Vancouver enjoy rivalries with CF Montreal and Toronto FC, with whom they compete in the Canadian Championship each year, and Portland Timbers and the Seattle Sounders, with whom they compete for the Cascadia Cup.
