Dowdy–Ficklen Stadium is a football stadium located in Greenville, North Carolina, on the campus of East Carolina University. The venue is the home ground of the East Carolina Pirates college football team.
📜 History
Plans for the stadium began in the early 1960s. In 1963, the venue opened under the name Ficklen Memorial Stadium, a tribute to East Carolina college booster James Skinner Ficklen.
Although the stadium opened with a capacity of just 10,000, this was expanded within a few years to 20,000, and further development projects throughout the century added tens of thousands more seats.
