For ease of access around Jersey City and into NYC and other nearby cities, stay near Journal Square, the main transportation hub of the city. Alternatively, stay along The Waterfront for access to frequent ferries across to NYC, and unreal views of its skyline from your hotel room.

The Waterfront, and neighbouring Historic Downtown are most central to the city’s nightlife, offering everything from hip clubs to cool brewpubs. Shoppers will also feel at home here thanks to the range of commercial and independent malls and shops they offer.

Alternatively, stay in The Heights, a hip multicultural neighbourhood in the north of Jersey City, bordering Hoboken. While the cool shops and bars of Downtown JC and Hoboken are within easy reach, the area itself offers everything from ice cream shops to dive bars.

While foodies would find plenty to tickle their taste buds Downtown, they may prefer to stay in Hilltop, between Downtown and Journal Square where restaurant-filled Newark Avenue Pedestrian Street is situated.

Families may enjoy the quietude of Bergen-Lafayette, a refined residential area in the south of the city with Liberty State Park to the east and Downtown Jersey City to the north.
