About Alumni Stadium

Alumni Stadium is an American football stadium located on the campus of Boston College in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts. The venue serves as the home ground for the Boston College Eagles football team.

📜 History

Alumni Stadium was opened in 1957 to replace the first football venue at Boston College, Alumni Field, which had been in use since 1915. Although expansions had increased Alumni Field's spectator capacity from 2,200 to 25,000, the original stadium was still too small.

In the 1969 season, the Boston Patriots of the American Football League used Alumni Stadium as their home ground.

From December to March, when the stadium is no longer in regular use for college football, a 65 ft inflatable vinyl bubble covers the field so that it can be used as a practice ground. This has taken place since 1998.
