Augusta hosts the Masters Tournament, one of the 4 major championships in professional golf, held each year at the Augusta National Golf Club. Augusta is home to the South Atlantic League’s minor league baseball team, the GreenJackets who are based at SRP Park. The Augusta Lynx and Augusta RiverHawks are the city’s minor league ice hockey teams who play at the James Brown Arena.

It has gone from being the state’s capital, home to all of Georgia’s elite, to a popular resort city attracting presidents and celebrities alike, and finally, to one of the world’s 4 most prominent golfing destinations. Each year, the city hosts the Masters Tournament at the Augusta National Golf Club, one of the most exclusive clubs in the country. While you will need an invitation to play there, you can play in one of the many other 18 golf clubs populating the city. Or you can simply relax, take life at a Georgian pace, and see the city’s sites. Start by shopping on trendy Broad Street and finish with a tranquil ride along the scenic Augusta Canal.
