Central San Jose, and Downtown in particular, is where you’ll find the city’s biggest and best bars and clubs, so wherever you stay in this area, there will be a party around the corner.
Youthful Campbell offers the perfect mix between city and suburban life for those who want more of a balance. While it has a lively music scene, it is also loved for its cute independent eateries, small local-style restaurants, and weekly farmers markets.
Willow Glen, located immediately southwest of the Downtown district, is the city’s most arts and culture-centric neighbourhood. Like Campbell, it offers a hip and trendy downtown shopping and global dining scene, as well as a charming residential side with old houses lined along tree-lined streets. It also has plenty of markets and events throughout the year.
North Valley, located a few kilometres northeast of Downtown, is a quiet and safe neighbourhood in which to find some of the city’s best budget accommodation.
Rose Garden is a quiet and upmarket neighbourhood next to Downtown with cool boutiques, global eateries, and a historic charm. Its close-knit community vibe makes it a family-friendly area to stay. Families will also feel at home in West San Jose, a spacious and green neighbourhood just a few kilometres from Downtown.
San Jose’ neighbouring city, Santa Clara, would be a preferable locale for those wanting to immerse in the epicentre of the Silicon Valley tech scene, as many companies are headquartered here.
Although there is a bus service running through San Jose, the best way to explore from wherever you’re staying would be by car or taxi.
