KK's Steel Mill

KK's Steel Mill is a large live music venue in Wolverhampton, specialising in rock and metal shows. It occupies the historic Star Works complex on Frederick Street, just south of Wolverhampton city centre, and can be configured for events up to around 2,000 people, with smaller formats and a lounge space for more intimate gigs.

The building is a Grade II listed former factory once used by the Star Cycle Company and later the Star Motor/Engineering Company, which developed from Edward Lisle’s cycle-making business in the late nineteenth century. A major 40,000 square foot works was completed on Frederick Street in 1903, and the industrial character of the portal-framed sheds and brick ranges still shapes the venue today.

Previously operated as Starworks, the site was relaunched as KK's Steel Mill in honour of guitarist K.K. Downing. It now hosts touring bands, club nights, festivals and other large-scale music events, contributing significantly to Wolverhampton’s contemporary music scene.
