Located in Oxford, England, the Kassam Stadium is a football stadium that serves as the home of Oxford United. Notably, the stadium is comprised of just 3 stands, with the west end of the pitch separated from a car park via a fence.

📜 History

The venue opened in 2001, and it is named after former Oxford owner Firoz Kassam, who bought the club in 1999. In 2006, the Oxford United Supporters' Trust attempted to unofficially rename the ground "The United Stadium," but the new moniker did not stick.

Oxford had an inauspicious start to life at their new ground, losing 13 of their first 17 fixtures there; the poor run of form was attributed to a "gypsy curse" placed on the club by a man who was evicted from the site during its construction, and Bishop of Oxford Richard Harries subsequently performed an exorcism to resolve the problem.

Between 2012 and 2015, Oxford shared the ground with London Welsh rugby team, whose home at Old Deer Park did not meet Premiership Rugby capacity requirements.
