Visiting Kelso
Sitting on the confluence of the Tweed and Teviot rivers near the Scottish-English border, Kelso was once one of the most important towns in southern Scotland. While today it is known as a quiet market town in the peaceful Borders region, the ruins of Roxburgh Castle and Kelso Abbey serve as a reminder of its tumultuous past which even involved a brief English occupation. Today, Kelso is most well known as the home of the impressive Floors Castle, one of the finest estates in Scotland. Situated just 30 minutes west of the Northumberland Coast and 30 minutes north of Northumberland National Park, Kelso is the perfect post for exploring the rugged landscapes of Northeast England and Southeast Scotland.
