Ice Arena Wales is located in the international sports village in Cardiff Bay. It is directly next to the International Pool and the front entrance faces the pool's front entrance. The arena is easily accessed via car and has parking available on arrival. There are also good public transport links.

🅿️ Parking

There is free parking available in the main Ice Arena car park and the International Pool overflow car park.

The former Toys R Us car park will be available. The car park will be manned with security and will open 2 hours prior to the start of the event and will close around 2 hours after the finish. The cost to park here will be £3 for the night. There are nearly 300 spaces in this car park.

Wilcox House car park is located directly across the street from The Harvester restaurant close to the arena. This is slightly more of a walk, but still only about 5 minutes to the front door of Ice Arena Wales. This also costs £3.

There is a limited number of designated disabled spaces at Ice Arena Wales. You’ll find these spaces in the main car park adjacent to the arena and Cardiff International Pool. From the parking area, there is a short walk to the main entrance.

The Devils are sponsored by Premier Taxis, so please support the taxi firm that supports the Devils - just call 02920 555 555 to book your taxi. You can also get a taxi to pick you up from Ice Arena Wales by going to reception and asking them to hit the call button for Premier Taxis, and it will be with you in minutes.

🚍 Coach & Bus

Cardiff Bus operate the Number 9 service which departs from Westgate Street in the City Centre and drops off directly outside the arena.

🚆 Train

A train service operates from Cardiff Central Station to Barry Island and the station to disembark for Ice Arena Wales is Cogan which is a 900 m (11 min) walk from the arena.

Although it’s a capital city, Cardiff is quite reasonably priced, and there will be something to suit every taste and budget, even in the city centre.

📍 Where To Stay

The Castle Quarter is Cardiff’s most central neighbourhood where you’ll find the high street and shopping centre filled with well-known clothing brands and restaurant chains, as well as Cardiff Castle and Principality Stadium. Although it’s busy all day, this quarter truly comes alive at night with parties from the city’s best bars and clubs.

If you want cool restaurants and bars but want to avoid the hoard of shoppers and party-goers, stay 3 km south in Cardiff Bay where the vibrancy of the capital is merged with the quietude of the harbour. Or stay in Llandaff, a medieval quarter known for its traditional historic pubs.

Heath, an affluent inner-city suburb, offers even more peace and quiet with a beautiful park and nearby bistros, which are ideal for families wanting a contrast from the city vibe. Alternatively, head 6.5 km south of the city to Penarth, a seaside village resort with its own marina bursting with an excellent assortment of bars, restaurants, and shops.

The coolest part of Cardiff to stay, however, is Pontcanna, a fashionable neighbourhood a few minutes north of the city centre by foot. This residential area has become populated with some of the city’s most hip bars and restaurants, as well as an artistic crowd.

Cardiff is a small city, so it’s easy enough to walk from one part of central Cardiff to another within 10 or 15 minutes. For those journeys that are a little too ambitious by foot, there is a quick and easy bus service that circulates the city.

About Ice Arena Wales

Ice Arena Wales (IAW) - known as Canolfan Iâ Cymru in Welsh - is an ice hockey rink in the Cardiff International Sports Village in Cardiff, Wales.

The arena was opened on 12 March 2016 and has 2 ice rinks and seating for 3,088 spectators. It is home to the Cardiff Devils ice hockey team, who play in the professional UK's Elite Ice Hockey League, which is the top tier of ice hockey in the UK. It replaced the Cardiff Arena, which was close to the current site. The Cardiff Arena (affectionately named the Big Blue Tent) was a temporary structure, built after the Wales National Ice Rink was demolished in 2006. The Cardiff Devils played their first game at the arena against Belfast Giants in March 2016.

Disabled toilets - there are disabled toilets available on both levels and no radar key is required to access them
Event mobility - the arena is fully accessible for wheelchairs and you are able to access both levels without encountering any steps. A public lift is available for accessing the upper concourse
Assistance dogs - assistance dogs are welcome at Ice Arena Wales. Please be aware though that noise levels can be high during games. If you’re attending match night with an assistance dog, please let the Box Office team know at the time of your booking, or email kw@cardiffdevils.com so the security team can be informed
Anxiety-friendly spaces - there is a dedicated area that provides quiet and comfort away from our match night atmosphere.
