Ashton Gate is located in the south-west of Bristol, just a short trip out of the city centre. It can be reached by car, but on event days it is more straightforward to use public transport, walk or cycle.
Below you can find general information on travel and parking for Ashton Gate Stadium. Individual events may have additional/restricted services available, and so we recommend clicking through to the event and viewing the Travel & Parking tab for event-specific information.
Although there is a small number of nearby car parking options, most have limited spaces, and will as a result they will fill up quickly on event days. It is recommended that you only travel to Ashton Gate by car if necessary. On-street parking is severely restricted in the vicinity of the stadium, especially on match days; using residential roads or private car parking spaces is strongly discouraged. Drivers should note that a Clean Air Zone (CAZ) is in operation in Bristol city centre; certain cars may incur additional charges when driving through the city.
On-site parking
There is a small amount of event day parking at the stadium itself. Spaces can be booked in advance by phoning Supporter Services (+44 (0) 117-963-0600; option 1), Monday - Friday 09:00-17:00. If you are using a SatNav or similar system, use the postcode BS3 2LQ, and enter the stadium site via Winterstoke Road/Wedlock Way. On non-event days, the on-site car park is free to use for up to 1 hour.
Off-site parking
There is also limited event day parking - available on a first-come first-served basis - at Ashton Vale Road Industrial Estate, and at Bedminster Cricket Club. The industrial estate is a 600 m (7 min) walk from the stadium, and the cricket club is a 850 m (10 min) walk.
Park and ride and match day buses
Park and ride and match day bus services operate to and from Ashton Gate Stadium on event days, with car parks located in the Portway, Brislington, and Temple Meads areas. For more information see the Coach & Bus section.
Taxis can drop-off and pick-up from the stadium itself and surrounding roads, though travellers are strongly discouraged from breaching any residential parking regulations. The journey from central Bristol takes approximately 15 minutes. There is a popular taxi rank at Temple Meads station for train travellers.

There is also a Park & Ride service - the m2 metrobus - which runs from Long Ashton (BS3 2HB) to Bristol city centre via Ashton Gate. Travellers are encouraged to check the bus' timetable by clicking here before they depart; the service does not operate on Sundays or certain holidays.
Match day buses
There are also 3 special match day buses which run when Bristol Bears or Bristol City are playing at Ashton Gate. Tickets can be purchased on the buses (cashless only), as well as in advance via First Bus. All 3 services run regularly from 2 hours 30 minutes before kick-off, and terminate at Ashton Gate; they then depart from Winterstoke Road post-match, until 3 hours 30 minutes after kick-off:
Being a popular tourist destination, Bristol is one of the country’s pricier cities outside of London, and it’s home to some of the coolest luxury boutique hotels around. However, Bristol is also one of the country’s most popular student cities, and so you can always find cheap and cheerful options for food and accommodation if you’d prefer.
There are plenty of food and drink concessions at Ashton Gate. The larger refreshment areas - the Heineken Lounge, the Independence Sports Bar, and the Kofi Lounge Coffee Shop - can be accessed via the South Stand.
Cans, bottles, flasks, and glass containers are all prohibited.
Toilets are located throughout the stadium concourses. There are also temporary toilet blocks within the fan village on match days.
There are 159 wheelchair-accessible viewing spaces at the stadium, located across all 4 stands. Each space comes with room for 1 assistant/carer.
Information points
On match days, stewards are always on-hand to resolve or escalate any queries. The ticket office in the South Stand also houses staff members who are equipped to deal with any issues, but this facility is usually only available before kick-off.

ATMs
There are no on-site cash machines (ATMs) at Ashton Gate Stadium, however the venue is cashless; all payment tills accept digital and card payments.
Bristol Temple Meads is one of the 2 main stations which serve Bristol. It is connected to the south-west as well as the wider UK via direct or connecting services. It is a 3.2 km (38 min) walk from the stadium, or less than 15 minutes away by car (the station has an on-site taxi rank). If you want to catch a bus simply walk for 700 m (8 min) to Redcliff Hill, via Prewett Street. Catch the 24 Citylines service, which takes just over 10 minutes to get to Durnford Street bus stop, a 350 m (4 min) walk from the stadium.
Parson Street Station is not far from Ashton Gate, but only provides a more localised rail service - though this does include trains from Temple Meads and Bristol Parkway, the city's other major station. Parson Street Station is a 1.3 km (16 min) walk from the stadium.
Cycling is a good way to get to the stadium; from Temple Meads station, for example, it can take less than 20 minutes.
There are 96 cycle racks at Ashton Gate, located by the South Stand. There is also a bike pump which can be used for free on event days - speak to nearby stewards if you require it.
Walking to Ashton Gate from Bristol city centre, as well as many of its southerly and westerly suburbs, is quite straightforward. From the Temple Meads station, for example, the walk is 3.4 km (41 min), and includes stretches along the River Avon.
Ashton Gate Stadium has a capacity of approximately 27,000. However, the capacity does differ between events depending on the seating configuration.
