The Minutemen are the football team of the University of Massachusetts Amherst. They compete in the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) of the NCAA and play as an Independent team.
UMass has the 4th oldest football program in the FBS, having fielded a team since 1879. The Minutemen have won 1 national title, which came in 1998, and have competed as an Independent since 2015. They maintain a fierce rivalry with Boston College.
