Travers Day is an exhilarating race meeting for thoroughbred horses held annually in August at Saratoga Race Course near Albany in New York State, USA.
The feature race is the Travers Stakes which was first held in 1864 and is named after William R. Travers, the president of the old Saratoga Racing Association. Nicknamed the "Mid-Summer Derby", it is the third-ranked race for American 3-year-olds according to international classifications - behind only the Kentucky Derby and Belmont Stakes - and it is the oldest stakes race in the United States specifically for 3-year-olds.
