The Senior Open Championship is 1 of the 5 majors of men's senior golf, co-sanctioned by the PGA Tour Champions and the European Senior Tour. It was inaugurated in 1987 and is typically played the week following The Open Championship, golf's oldest and arguably most prestigious major.

Like its counterpart, The Senior Open is contested by a field comprised of the world's best players at an iconic British course each year. As a senior event it is only open to players aged 50 and over, so the field is invariably made up of many of golf's modern legends.
