The Preakness Meet is a flat racing meeting for thoroughbred horses held at the historic Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore, Maryland, USA.
The 2-day meeting kicks off with Black-Eyed Susan Day on the Friday with the feature race named after the Maryland State flower and specifically for 3-year-old female horses. Then, it’s the big one: Preakness Stakes Day. Taking its name from the first horse to win at Pimlico, the Preakness Stakes is the second jewel in the US Triple Crown, sitting between the Kentucky Derby and the Belmont Stakes. Attendance at the meeting is ranked second in North American horse racing events, with only the Derby at Churchill Downs beating it. The infield is known as the biggest party of the year, so expect a celebratory atmosphere from the roaring crowds as you watch some of the finest horses in the world.
In 2025, Pimlico will host the 150th edition of the Preakness Stakes.
