The Tigers are the football team of Texas Southern University in Houston, Texas. They compete in the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) of the NCAA and play in the West Division of the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC).
📜 Texas Southern Tigers Football History
Texas Southern first fielded a football team in 1947. For the first 4 years of the program, the Tigers competed independently. From 1952 to 1954, they played in the Midwest Athletic Association.
In 1955, Texas Southern joined the SWAC, where it has stayed ever since. The SWAC is a conference for historically black universities (HBCU).
The Tigers have won multiple conference titles and 2 Black College National Championships. The first of these national titles was won in 1952 and the second in 2010.
