Very nice place to enjoy tennis with my family. Food, game, players near to you… we will come back next time !!!!
(For the food , if you see the queue, don’t be afraid, it goes quickly!!!)
We visited for the Friday night session at the Royal Albert Hall. We saw three matches of two sets (two singles and one doubles) - some familiar faces including Greg Rusedski for the Brits.
Royal Albert Hall is a really unique atmosphere for an event like this. On the ticket booking system, a lot of the seats were marked as restricted viewing, but actually most seats looked like a really good clear view. We sat in the West Choir, which had excellent views of the game. Only minor disadvantage was not a good view of the big-screen TV, but it wasn't really needed.
Ground floor seats nice and close, but watch out for the netting to protect fans - first level is probably the best.
It's a great event for tennis fans or just for a night out even if you don't follow tennis. It has a very easy going and fun atmosphere compared to the more serious tournaments - at one point Malisse returned Stepanek's shot with a header, which then resulted in a game of foot volleys to win the point.
I heard it may not be coming back to the Royal Albert Hall next year, but will wait and see as would like to go again.
Our second visit to Indian Wells for the BNP Paribas Open. We are both big tennis fans and so it's great to have the "fifth major" on our side of the states. The overall facilities at Indian Wells are impressive and allowed for a great week of live tennis...which is why we came!
COVID rules did seem to cause more confusion than since our previous visit, which just seemed to slow everything down with bigger queues, longer waits, helpers unsure of information - and so removed one star. I hope next year things will be back to normal and will be a 5-star event again!!
Will definitely be back 😍🎾
Foro Italico is a really unique venue as you walk around with all the giant athlete statues surrounding the facilities!
We went in 2019 and the event was busy...as expected... but queues moved fast so no problems there. Food and drink reasonably priced and enough choice.
We enjoyed the atmosphere and although we only had ground tickets, we had a great time watching the matches out in the sunshine. Would love to go again and would be a dream to get center court tickets.
I have attended the ATP at the O2 three times in the past and both times loved it!
I went to the evening sessions - once in the very top of upper seats, once in the lower bowl seats near the court, and once was lucky enough to be invited to a suite with work. The upper seats are ok but at the very back in Upper Bowl 3, the court does feel a little far away - I think Upper Bowl 1 & 2 would be preferable. I really loved the Lower Bowl, more so than the suite as you feel right in the action.
It's a good, lively and fun atmosphere at the event - it's intentionally less formal than some of the majors which makes a good contrast. The format is also good, that you can go along for a few hours and see some great games without having commit to a full day.
Access to the O2 is incredibly easy - we took the Jubilee line and it was a little busy but no problems. I usually grab a quick bite to eat afterwards in one of the O2 restaurants before heading home and the train was like normal - you wouldn't know a big event had been on.
I would recommend this event to anyone, whether a big tennis fan or not, I've brought along friends and family who don't watch it normally and they always enjoyed it. The top tickets are pricey but you can normally pick up a reasonable price for earlier days and higher seats.
Spent a day at the French Open for 2019. The tennis was good but was a shame it rained and quite literally dampened the atmosphere and delayed some of the games. I heard in 2020 they will have a new stadium roof to prevent rain delays which is good, but they also need more coverings for people not seated in the main stadium for poor weather. I know they can't control the weather and it's an outdoor event and think in dry conditions would have made it a 5* event.
I live in Melbourne and have been going every year for the last five years. The tennis is always fantastic! I've watched from different tickets and prices and have been pretty happy with them all. My best advice is to get a reserved seat if your budget allows.
Parking is difficult so try and catch public transport if possible.
If you're from outside Melbourne, I recommend making a stay of it as there's a good and lively vibe in the town and lots to see and so.
Been here twice now - LOVE IT! You can feel the history! The venue is not huge but a great atmosphere. Have been lucky enough to see Federer and Nadal in the past, so amazing to watch first hand. Lots of fun games on the outside courts but book into a stadium if you want a better chance of seeing some of the top seeded men and women players.
Tip: the cloakroom is outside the venue but you may not be allowed back in after you exit so make sure you take everything you need before using it.
I visited French Open a couple of years ago. Arrived by metro, which was nice and easy. Security is very thorough, but still efficient and understandable for the benefit of everyone. The earlier you arrive, the quicker you get through.
It was very hot when in the sunshine with no shade in the seats so make sure you bring hat, sunglasses, sun cream, and remember to drink lots of water. Plenty of food options, but you can also bring your own lunch if preferred - small bags are allowed.
Overall a wonderful venue and great tennis. I would recommend for anyone.
I went on a day pass in 2018 and was pleased I did! There are loads of matches happening and included in the outer courts and Armstong. Facilities are top notch. Only minor criticism that the legroom is a little tight but that would only be an issue if spending a full day in the same seat. This is one of the biggest sports events in the world so I would say a must-see for anyone.
I am a keen tennis fan and was really please to experience Wimbledon first-hand in 2019. The atmosphere and history of the venue did not disappoint and had a super day with my partner. We used "the Queue" and was only able to get General Admission by the time we got to the front. Was still very good. Tip: you can bring your own food in if preferred. I will definitely be applying earlier later this year as a reserved seat will be the dream come true!
I'm not a tennis fanatic but enjoy trying new things so went to the US Open first in 2018. The grounds are beautiful and the whole event is run to an extremely high standard. Had a really amazing time and was hooked so went back in 2019! This time also bought tickets for Armstong and it just got even better!! Really love this event and will be back in 2020 - I recommend it for anyone wanting a great day out, even if you don't normally follow tennis closely.
I tried for the ballot but wasn't successful so decided to try queuing on the day. Took the tube Southfields station and walked from there - was very straightforward. Arrived about 7.30am and already lots of people in the line. But it was very well organised and everybody in good spirits.
Was lucky enough to get a single ticket in Court 1, and had a really good day from both Court 1 and the outer courts and grounds access. Watching the tennis live and being in the atmosphere is really special. Worth walking around the grounds too as it's interesting to see and plenty of action on outer courts too.
Food options are good and about what you expect for venue. Of course had the famous strawberries and cream 🍓😄
I thought this would be a one-off but am hooked and will definitely be making it an annual trip even if it's just a ground pass next time it's worth it.
My second out of four Grand Slams - had done Wimbledon previously. Hard to compare as a completely different vibe, but Aus Open was a really fantastic experience. I had seats in Margaret Court, which had a great view so was really happy to see some some great games. Rod Laver tends to be where the bigger matches are in later rounds. I spoke to some Ground Pass holders who had trouble getting into courts so reserved seat ticket recommended if your budget stretches.
You can buy shaded seats but be warned that these aren't guaranteed as shaded, at least not for the full day. Wasn't a problem for us anyway as they had to close the roof for rain.
Lots of places to eat but tends to be fast junk food so would be nice for a few more quality options as don't want to eat junk for every meal every day.
We tried the free tram service, which is a good gesture but gets extremely busy during the opening and closing times so we opted to walk on the second day as ended up being faster.
Overall had a top experience and definitely worth visiting! Once I've done the others, I'm sure I'll be back for another visit... even if it is 18 hours flight away!
Went in 2019 and had a really great day. The venue is special and the live tennis was spectacular. We got to see Nadal on clay court so could not have asked for more!
Event is well-organised and the staff were helpful. Also free WiFi in the grounds. Queues to toilets were quite long and not in great condition and think there could be more quality food options (it is France after all!!), but these are minor gripes on a great experience.
This was my first time attending a live tennis event and was not disappointed! The venue facilities are excellent and a good range of options to eat - not the cheapest but this is normal at big events.
We were in Arthur Ashe high seats but still had a great view of the action. Saw Roger Federer and Serena Williams! Incredible! Also can walk around and see some of the games at the outer courts or Louis Armstrong stadium and the overall grounds.
It was a truly memorable experience and one of the best live events I have been too. Will definitely return again in the future.
