Founded as the Houston Oilers, the team was established in 1960 in Houston, Texas as a charter member of the American Football League (AFL). The Oilers won the AFL Championship in both 1960 and 1961, before joining the NFL in 1970 following the AFL-NFL merger.
After moving from Houston to Nashville, Tennessee in 1997, the franchise changed its name to the "Tennessee Titans" in 1999. Over the years, the Titans have enjoyed multiple playoff appearances and won several division titles, with players like Steve McNair, Eddie George, and Derrick Henry considered iconic figures for the franchise.
