Chailly is the most trendy part of the city due to its high concentration of young professionals who have brought cool bars and cafes along with them, However, the coolest part of Lausanne is Bourdonnette, where the university is located.
Although the entire city is really family-friendly, there are wonderful cottages and chateaux to stay in the Lavaux Vineyards that offer a quieter, more rural setting where children have more space to explore.
Lausanne is a very small city, and so it’s easy to reach most places by foot, but bear in mind some of this Alpine city’s roads are quite steep. There is a local train, however, that can take you anywhere you need to go in Lausanne within a few minutes.
