Sunshine Coast Lightning are a netball team based on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland, Australia. They play in Suncorp Super Netball.
Launched in 2016, the Lightning were one of 3 brand new teams created for the Suncorp Super Netball League, which replaced the ANZ Championship. The team was created as a joint venture between the University of the Sunshine Coast and Melbourne Storm, a rugby league club, and the Lightning use the same colours as the Storm: navy blue, purple, and yellow.
Lightning had a dream start to life in Suncorp Super Netball, winning their inaugural season with a victory over Giants Netball in the Grand Final. In 2018 they repeated their feat, this time beating West Coast Fever in the Grand Final. The team has not won a title since, but in 2019 they won a minor premiership for finishing the season at the top of the ladder.
The team plays its home games at USC Stadium, a sports venue on the university campus. They are coached by Kylee Byrne.
