Stephen Wilson Jr. is an American singer, guitarist and songwriter from Seymour, Indiana, United States. Drawing on country, rock, grunge and Americana influences, he has dubbed his distinctive sound "Death Cab for Country", pairing storytelling lyrics with gritty, atmospheric arrangements.
Raised by a single father who trained him as a boxer, Wilson Jr. went on to study microbiology and chemistry at Middle Tennessee State University, play guitar in indie rock band AutoVaughn, and work as an R&D scientist for Mars before turning full-time to music. After signing a publishing deal with BMG Nashville in 2016, he wrote songs recorded by artists such as Caitlyn Smith, Old Dominion, Tim McGraw and Leigh Nash, whom he later married. His own releases include the EP "bon aqua", the double album "Søn of Dad" and the covers EP "Blankets", alongside key songs like "Year to Be Young 1994", "Cuckoo", "American Gothic", "Father's Søn" and "Gary". He has earned major festival slots, late-night television performances and a CMA New Artist of the Year nomination.
