Squid are an English rock band originally formed in Brighton, England, in 2016. The band consists of Ollie Judge (vocals, drums), Louis Borlase (guitar, vocals), Anton Pearson (guitar, vocals), Laurie Nankivell (bass), and Arthur Leadbetter (keyboards). Known for their experimental and post-punk sound, Squid have been influenced by bands such as Neu! and This Heat.
Their initial independent release was the EP LINO in 2017, followed by the critically acclaimed Town Centre in 2019, produced by Dan Carey. Signing with Warp Records in 2020, Squid released their debut album, Bright Green Field, in 2021. The album earned widespread acclaim and debuted at number four on the UK Albums Chart. Prominent singles from this album included "Narrator", "Paddling", and "Pamphlets".
Their second album, O Monolith, released in 2023, continued to receive positive reviews, reinforcing their presence in the rock scene. Throughout their career, Squid have performed at high-profile festivals such as Glastonbury, Rock en Seine, and La Route Du Rock. With continued innovation in their music, Squid remain a significant force in the contemporary rock landscape.
