The Thunderbirds are the football team of Southern Utah University (SUU) in Cedar City. They compete in the Football Championship subdivision of the NCAA and play in the Western Athletic Conference (WAC).
SUU is a very new member of the WAC, having competed in the Big Sky Conference since 2012. The Thunderbirds have won 4 conference titles in the program's history, the most recent being the Big Sky Championship in 2017.
