Shakey Graves is the stage name of Alejandro Rose-Garcia, an Americana and folk musician from Austin, Texas, United States. Also known under his birth name in film and television credits, he first worked as an actor before focusing on music.
Developing a distinctive one-man-band set-up built around a suitcase kick drum and fingerpicked guitar, he self-released his debut album "Roll the Bones" in 2011, gradually building a devoted live following. Signing to Dualtone Records, he expanded his sound on the 2014 album "And the War Came", whose duet "Dearly Departed" introduced him to a wider audience and festival stages.
Shakey Graves continued to blur lines between folk, Americana, blues and indie rock on later releases including "Can’t Wake Up" and "Movie of the Week". In 2015 he received the Americana Music Association’s Best Emerging Artist award, and the city of Austin created an annual "Shakey Graves Day" celebrating his contribution to the local scene. He remains an influential touring artist, balancing intimate solo performances with full-band shows and ongoing studio projects.
