Belgrade is the capital of Serbia and the most vibrant, cosmopolitan city in the Balkans. Swaths of urban grittiness may prevent travel writers describing it as a “fairytale”, but just try to have dinner in the Skadarlij district with a soundtrack of strolling street musicians or watch the sun sink over the Danube from the Belgrade Fortress and not fall madly in love with this place. In addition to being home to a myriad of historical and cultural sights, Belgrade is the setting for a multitude of sports events, with revered multi-sport associations Red Star, Beograd, and Partizan calling the city home.
We could not get tickets , they were some sort of secret…we left our name and e-mail number of times but nobody answered …meanwhile we saw empty seats everywhere on TV ….then on final day some tickets came up but they were so high up , you probably got oxygen masks …

From a supporter with no family or friends competing perspective there were areas that let us down. Firstly there was no printed program with all the competitors and countries, secondly the state of the toilets was second world for the public, thirdly the organisation at the gates for entry was chaotic and no set times when you could enter the stands. Adequate food has always been a problem at these events.
